Joshua Imboli of Poughkeepsie was arrested on Thursday, March 21, following an investigation by the Ulster County Family and Child Advocacy Center, said the Ulster County District Attorney's Office.
According to the DA's office, the investigation began after the baby was airlifted from the Village of Saugerties to Westchester Medical Center Pediatric Intensive Care Unit where the child was diagnosed as having suffered a "non-accidental" traumatic brain injury and is in critical condition.
The subsequent investigation revealed that the bad suffered from Abusive Head Trauma, formerly referred to as Shaken Baby Syndrome.
Imboli was charged with felony reckless assault of a child, the report said.
He is being held at the Ulster County Jail on $10,000 cash bail and an Order of Protection has been issued on behalf of the victim.
Imboli is scheduled to appear in court on March 25.
The Ulster County Family and Child Advocacy Center comprised of members of the Ulster County District Attorney’s Office, Ulster County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police, and Ulster County Child Protective Services.
